As an outstanding photographer, filmmaker and educator in China, Mr. Wu Yinxian (1900-1994) was very influential in the history of photography in China.

The first retrospective exhibition of Wu Yinxian “Wu Yinxian: ‘Beijing Hotel’ & ‘The Great Hall of the People’” was successfully held in TaiKang Space in November 2009. As the second exhibition in the exhibition plan, this exhibition showcases photography works made by Wu Yinxian during 1950s and 1960s, which reflect the social life, labor and industry at that time.

As one of the research projects on the development of photography in China, Taikang Space plans to organize four exhibitions to show his representative works from the 1980s to the 1920s in a reverse chronological order after thorough studies on a large number of his works.

Exhibition content:

1.Documentation: including Wu Yinxian’s drafts, publications, self-made photo albums, photo samples and related pictures and historical materials.

2.Works: eight series including Wu Yinxian’s flowers, portraits, industrial and social themes. All exhibit works were hand-made by Wu Yinxian using Gelatin silver prints, and there will be some Vintage prints used by Wu Yinxian in his previous exhibitions.
