2012.09.27 - 2012.11.17

Artist(s):Cai Dongdong

Curator(s):Tang Xin, Su Wenxiang, Xu Chongbao

Cai Dongdong’s artistic practice explores visual resources between the East and the West in forms of theatrical play and performances and his final thought process is often presented in the medium of photography. The project at “Daylight Pavilion: Pulling to the left” transforms a photographer’s daily captured images into a source of the artwork: an archive of modern civilization. Photographers are one of the primary producers of images in today’s society, either the audience or themselves is willing to believe such modes of production and its outcome embody certain meaning, Pulling to the left poses skepticism to such meaning.

Cai Dongdong, born in 1978, in Gansu Province. Cai Dongdong is a recipient of the first prize of the 2010 The Third Terna Contemporary Art Award, in Italy.
