"Minutes & Seconds" was a special project of Taikang Space for Art Beijing 2011 (Booth C2, Non-profit section). This project showcased twelve video works selected by twelve artists that we invite.

Even until today, "the situation where cathode-ray tube replaces canvas" still has not appeared. We prefer to say that the non-linear alternations of art history have better accorded with the complicated reality of the present rather than say this famous claim by "Father of Video Art" Nam June Paik has ceased to be effective. Although canvas has not been thoroughly replaced, cathode-ray tube, LED and LCD have provided the artists with a brand new stage, including the new Frame. This unproved proverb suggests at the same time the meaning of media themselves and the re-examination between one medium and another. Undoubtedly, video has been one of the most familiar media for the artists today. Among the twelve invited artists, some choose video as their main way of creation. Some use it from time to time. In a word, they all possess the experience of using image as the language of expression. The English name of this project borrows Dan Graham’s famous work Present Continuous Past(s) (1974). We consider that it appropriately presents the past, present and future, as well as the tangling time and space concept of the main body and other. Meanwhile, an exhibition like this also expresses our mutual interest in this medium and a willing to explore.
